All kits must be ordered by APRIL
1st. Contact the Stitchin' Post for order forms & pricing.
Classes run from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Two numbers together indicate a two-day class.
Each workshop is coded by level of expertise: Beginning workshops are for people who have little or no experience with quiltmaking; Advanced Beginning workshops require you to have rotary cutter and piecing experience; Intermediate workshops require you to be comfortable doing your own interpretation of patterns/designs; and Advanced workshops require you to be comfortable with all levels of designing and creating quilts. Some classes require a specific book, pattern, or lab fee. These are listed at the bottom of the class description.
LUNCHES
Daily lunches will be available to quilters at the
school through the efforts of the staff at Rays Food Place.
Bagged lunches will be provided at the school Monday through
Friday for $10 and must be pre-ordered.

Need to borrow a sewing machine for your classes at Quilter’s Affair? Morrow’s Sewing & Vacuum Center will have machines available for a $10/day rental fee! Call 541-382-3882 after receiving your class confirmation to reserve a machine. Deadline for reservations is June 1, 2007.

401 ABSOLUTELY BEGINNING QUILTING
Lawry Thorn

Two Table Runners or Small Quilts *
Start your quilting experience with Lawry. You will learn rotary cutting skills while making two projects—both table runners. The first project will be strip cutting, piecing, and sewing blocks together, then adding borders. The second project will contain both half-square triangles and quarter-square triangles, plus borders. Optional instructions to make these into small quilts will be given. Easy machine quilting will also be covered. |

418 BEGINNING MACHINE QUILTING

This is a very hands-on class where I will teach you the basics of machine quilting. The first half of the class will cover setting up your work space, teach you how to pick the perfect batting for your quilt, eliminate the mystery and frustration of choosing the correct thread, tension, needles and how to properly baste your quilt. You will be spending the second half of the class at your machine where I will teach you how to obtain that perfect stitch, provide helpful hints on quilting various designs and send you home with the needed confidence to successfully complete your quilt! |

A favorite photo or “mind picture” can be
turned into a beautiful, quilted and embellished wall hanging. In this class, you will learn to translate your favorite scene into a piece of fiber art using soft edge appliqué, free motion thread-painting and other embellishments of your choice. Emphasis will be placed on using color and value to create a sense of depth and perspective in your scene. By the end of class, you should have a good start on your composition. |

Use your favorite photograph or drawing from nature to create an original design appliqué quilt. Working with the basic principles of color, design and a variety of appliqué techniques, each student will complete a design and begin its execution. Appliqué techniques covered range from reverse and direct appliqué to segmented shapes. Also included are two surface design techniques: colored pencil and pen and ink.

Curved piecing techniques, which can be easily done by machine, will be demonstrated. The curves are gentle and the resulting blocks present numerous possibilities for a wall hanging or bed quilt. |
