All kits must be ordered by APRIL
1st. Contact the Stitchin' Post for order forms & pricing.
Classes run from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Two numbers together indicate a two-day class.
Each workshop is coded by level of expertise: Beginning workshops are for people who have little or no experience with quiltmaking; Advanced Beginning workshops require you to have rotary cutter and piecing experience; Intermediate workshops require you to be comfortable doing your own interpretation of patterns/designs; and Advanced workshops require you to be comfortable with all levels of designing and creating quilts. Some classes require a specific book, pattern, or lab fee. These are listed at the bottom of the class description.
LUNCHES
Daily lunches will be available to quilters at the
school through the efforts of the staff at Rays Food Place.
Bagged lunches will be provided at the school Monday through
Friday for $10 and must be pre-ordered.

Need to borrow a sewing machine for your classes at Quilter’s Affair? Morrow’s Sewing & Vacuum Center will have machines available for a $10/day rental fee! Call 541-382-3882 after receiving your class confirmation to reserve a machine. Deadline for reservations is June 1, 2007.

201 SCRAPPY MYSTERY WITH A NEW CUT OR TWO

In this technique workshop, you will learn how to machine piece circles. That’s right–no appliqué! Using a black and white background, you will discover working with high and low contrasts to enhance this lap quilt, creating an intriguing eye-catcher. We will touch on keeping the viewer’s eye moving throughout the quilt by using color, value, and intensity.

202 MACHINE APPLIQUÉ FOR THE TERRIFIED QUILTER

Appliqué by machine doesn’t have to raise your blood pressure—and after this class you’ll feel confident enough to tackle any kind of machine appliqué. We will focus on the two main types —Invisible (or “Mock Hand Appliqué”), and Satin Stitch. In the first, your thread will disappear; and of course, with the satin stitch, the thread becomes an important part of your appliqué design. Trust Sharon, by the end of the day you’ll be starting that Baltimore Album Quilt!

This quilt sparkles through the use of spirited fabrics, gradations in color and value, curved design elements, and rotational symmetry—and the whole construction process is much less complex than it looks! The block arcs are constructed using a simplified version of paper piecing, the inner and outer pieces are cut with templates, and patterns are provided for the curved borders. Judy will provide helpful tips for using color effectively, and will assist you throughout the design process.
