All kits must be ordered by APRIL 1st. Contact the Stitchin' Post for order forms & pricing.
Classes run from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Two numbers together indicate a two-day class.
Each workshop is coded by level of expertise: Beginning workshops are for people who have little or no experience with quiltmaking; Advanced Beginning workshops require you to have rotary cutter and piecing experience; Intermediate workshops require you to be comfortable doing your own interpretation of patterns/designs; and Advanced workshops require you to be comfortable with all levels of designing and creating quilts. Some classes require a specific book, pattern, or lab fee. These are listed at the bottom of the class description.
LUNCHES
Daily lunches will be available to quilters at the
school through the efforts of the staff at Rays Food Place.
Bagged lunches will be provided at the school Monday through
Friday for $10 and must be pre-ordered.

Need to borrow a sewing machine for your classes at Quilter’s Affair? Morrow’s Sewing & Vacuum Center will have machines available for a $10/day rental fee! Call 541-382-3882 after receiving your class confirmation to reserve a machine. Deadline for reservations is June 1, 2007.

Morning class time will be spent constructing the blocks, and in the afternoon you will begin the design process.

Do you hate basting quilts? Have too little time to hand quilt and are afraid to try machine quilting? Then this is the quilt for you. 304/404 ABSTRACT QUILT DESIGN

This workshop will show you how to start with an original photograph or line drawing and create a departure from its reality. You will do six different exercises to explore abstract and non-representational designs, including shape, line, blind painting, “cubing,” zooming, abstract, and still life. Composition, color schemes, and a well thought out plan will be emphasized. A quilt design will be fully realized. Many different techniques will be discussed to help you create your quilt such as appliqué, piecing, fusing, collage, and painting and stamping on the surface.

Experimenting with fabrics to produce nature’s wide range of textures and colors is the focus of this technique class. You will explore the use of discharge (using bleach), pastels, crayon and pencil work, foil, and painting. Velda calls this her “kindergarten” class, because it’s so much fun!

This workshop concentrates on exploring different machine stitching techniques to give your quilts an individual and unique flavor. In order to learn as many different styles as possible, students will develop samples rather than completing a class project. This one-day workshop will teach you to create original fabrics from white 100% cotton fabric. You will learn to create designs using sun printing, painting, and other surface design techniques. This class explores basic art design principles and applies them to designing and creating a quilt. The construction method for the class project is fabric collage. Each student will also be leaving class with a finished composition, and a whole new way to look at quilts!
