Join Jeanne for a whimsical, fun time making blocks for a wool quilt. Jeanne will lead the get-togethers and share techniques, design ideas, and color inspiration. You will work with your own palette of colors and be able to special order wool through the store. You will end up with a one-of-a-kind quilt. The store will be getting in all of the thread and notions that Sue recommends working with.

Learn a unique way to use your large-scale prints to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece! You will fracture a design, reassemble it on a design wall, choose borders that enhance your quilt and go home with your partially completed quilt top. We will be using strip cutting and easy piecing to make the quilt top. This technique lends itself to almost any large-scale print – floral and Asian prints are especially beautiful.

Bring the beautiful colors of fall inside with this easy and colorful wall hanging. A quick cut crazy pieced block creates the background. The tree branch and leaves are then appliquéd onto the pieced background. Learn several different leaf techniques and free motion stitching for embellishing the tree trunk. You should get the background pieced and begin work on the tree trunk and leaves during class.

collaged mini art quilt Kathy and Bevalee will demonstrate a variety of surface design and embellishment techniques (fabric painting, stenciling and stamping with acrylic paints and Paintstiks, shading with colored pencils, foiling, Angelina fibers, couching and beading) you will use to create a small, collaged art quilt. You will prepare your fabrics in the first session, and will begin constructing your design in the second session. We review machine appliqué and couching techniques and discuss working with clipart and photographic images.

On the 2nd Saturday of each month, join us for a one-of-a-kind quilt club. Lawry designed a stunning star sampler a few years ago and we will be using it for our blocks. Jean is working on one in vintage textiles and Lawry will be using a more contemporary palette. You will have two fabric choices for your quilt. Each month you will get a packet of fabric and new patterns. You will be adding some of your own fabrics for backgrounds and to personalize the quilt. Arrive at the next meeting with your finished block(s) and you will be given a new fabric packet and pattern. You will pay $5 the first time you attend, but not again if you come with a finished block(s) each month. If you do not finish the block you will need to pay $5 again. If you cannot attend the meeting, send a friend with the block.

Do you love mystery quilt classes so much that you wish they would never end? Well, here’s one that will keep you guessing for four months! After each class you will go away with sewing tasks, then come back the next month for the next clue. In the fourth session, Lawry will “unveil” the finished quilt and you also get to share your quilt with your own creative touch.
*Mini-Mystery will be held on the 4th Saturday in October due to a scheduling conflict.

Gridlock is a fabulous design for the study of color movement in a quilt. The shapes lend themselves to many design possibilities. It is simple to construct but looks complex when finished. The quilt can work with a variety of fabric styles, besides Kaffe prints and solids. Jean’s quilt combines123 Kaffe prints in earth tones along with batiks and solids. On Sunday afternoon the 28th we will have a short session on color and ideas for fabric choices for the quilt. Then Monday and Tuesday will be spent on quilt design and construction.
