In this introductory workshop, participants will learn how to permanently print the images of leaves onto fabric, using only the natural pigments found within each leaf. The shapes, colors, and even textures of leaves can be captured through a process with low environmental impact. This use of real leaves to create unique designs allows participants to connect with nature in a new way. Participants will be led step-by-step through the process while creating their very own leaf-printed silk or silk/wool blend scarf. Additionally, participants will go home with detailed handouts including instructions, resources for supplies, and all the information they need to continue experimenting with this fascinating process at home. The cost of the workshop includes one blank scarf and all dyeing supplies. If students wish to dye an additional scarf during the workshop (time permitting) or later at home, additional blank scarves will be available for a small fee.
