Art Quilt Symposium 2022
After a two-year absence, Stitchin' Post is excited to offer our annual Art Quilt Symposium once again! We are pleased to announce "Creativity & Complex Curves" with Patricia Belyea.
Patricia, a creative quilt maker, speaker, and teacher, takes joy in teaching how to incorporate curves into quilt designs. She has taught curved piecing across the United States, in Canada, and in the United Kingdom.
She co-owns Okan Arts with her daughter Victoria Stone. Together they import and sell vintage Japanese textiles, and lead textile tours to Japan. Patricia will be bringing a selection of Japanese yukata cottons for sale during the workshop.
In this workshop, students start by making a curvy-pieced quadrant (approximately 36" x 36") quilt of their own design; translate simple doodles into block designs and transfer the line work to freezer paper for making patterns. Next, walk through the steps for making a fabric version of the drawings. In the second half of the workshop, students move to a larger sized composition (41" x 51") with more complex curves.
Note: If you have taken a class from Patricia in the past, she will be providing more advanced assignments to challenge your creativity.
Lunch is included in the registration fee.
