Join Tina Newton of Blue Moon Fiber Arts for a special two-day workshop to explore the magical alchemy that is dyeing! It’s fascinating how many ways there are to put color on a skein of yarn from solids colors to speckled and self-striping colorways. This workshop will cover the basic dye principles for acid dyeing on protein fibers and discuss safe, successful dye practices. You’ll learn about stock solutions and color combining to get that perfect hue that makes your heart sing. Our explorations will include all kinds of patterns ~ striping, pooling, speckling, grading and layering. There will be a little math and discussions on stitch patterns and gauge as it relates to knitting with all of these varied types of dyed yarns.
You will make your own stock solution and experiment with shading and tinting. You will be planning and dyeing you very own gradient. You will speckle a skein and stripe one. Inspiration is the core of color creating so we challenge ourselves by using a photo, picture or memory of something we love and recreate it on yarn!
The only limit to what we can create with color is our own imaginations!
Lunch is included for both days of this workshop.
