Part of Ann Shaw's “Artisan Collection" quilt pattern series, the Bird of Paradise quilt pattern is a traditionally pieced pattern that uses freezer paper templates, and is based on the design and piecing techniques of Ruth McDowell. It is not paper pieced. These patterns are for experienced quilters and feature curved seams designs and more detailed piecing. The bird of paradise flower is one of Ann’s favorites, and she has created this pattern to honor this tropical beauty. The double border is part of the piecing design, and the flower bursts through these borders to almost the edge of the quilt. Full sized pattern and step by step instructions are included.
