Knitting Caddy & Travel Sewing Kit Pattern by Valori Wells

Needles and notions need a home when you are transporting your sewing and knitting projects. The Knitting Needle Caddy is designed for circular needles as well as for straight needles and has pockets for patterns and findings. The inner “pages” are designed with slots for your needles. The Travel Sewing Kit is just that; a handy foldup container for needles, pins, scissors, thread, and a tape measure. Both the caddy and the sewing kit have a pieced decorative cover and would make great gifts for fellow knitters or quilters. 

Finished measurement of the Travel Sewing Kit, when open, is 9” x 15”, and the finished measurement of the Knitting Needle Caddy is 14“x 20”.

Supplies:

Travel Sewing Kit:
1/3 yard for outside cover and pocket flap
1/3 yard for lining
1/4 yard for pockets and piecing (or an 8 1/2” x 12” rectangle)
1/8 yard or scraps for 1 1/2” squares in nine patch (or a 1 1/2” x 10” strip)
1” velcro for closure
1/8 yard each of three different colors of felt or wool (3” x 7”, 3” x 6”, 3” x 5”)
1 yard 3/8” ribbon for ties
9 1/2” x 15 1/2” scrap of thin quilt batting

Knitting Needle Caddy:
1/3 yard for outside cover and pockets
1/3 yard for lining
1/3 yard for inner pages
1/3 yard for inner pages and flaps
3/8 yard solid for pockets
3/8 yard solid for pockets
     (If you want pockets in just two colors you can eliminate one of the solids as the fabric is wide enough to cut all of them)
1 1/2 yard of 3/8” wide ribbon for ties
1 yard thin quilt batting
