Intermediate Quilting Level
As an artist, I enjoy designing quilts that appear complex, but really are not. A formula was put in place that uses alternating rows of blocks (see illustrations). The arc design has been simplified from a traditional New York Beauty block to make it easier to piece. The full size photo on the back cover will help you to reference the fabrics while you make choices.\

Materials:
Four different solid, or solid-like, fabrics are used in the points in each C block.
The same fabric is used for the background behind the points in the C blocks and for D.
In this version of the quilt, the theme print (print used the most) is the laguna birds.
2 1/2” wide strips can be used in piecing the points and backgrounds in the C blocks.
1 1/2 yards theme print for A, B, E, & F.
3 2/3 yards of several other fabrics for A, B, E, & F.
1 1/2 yards for C2 background behind points, D & binding.
4 yards total of several other fabrics for C2 background behind points & D.
3 yards total for the points in C1 (can be 2 1/2” wide strips).
4 1/4 yards for backing.
72” x 80” batting.

Foundations for making paper pieced blocks (at least 27 - 8 1/2" x 11" sheets).
Heavy paper or template plastic.
