This quilt has two different backgrounds, both very similar in color. There are seven different color combinations in the "stepping stones." For example, the B and C fabrics are always paired together, D and E are paired together, and so on. (If you wish, you can cut your pieces free-form, and trim up the columns after they are sewn.)

1 fat quarter (18” x 22”) of each: 
Light Blue, Blue, Grey, Light Grey, Wheat, Cream, Sand, Oatmeal, Lime, Olive, Hot Pink, Light Pink, Bright Red, Deep Red (or 7 pairs of fabrics in the colors of your choice, totaling 14 colors)

And to complete the quilt:
1/2 yard for binding
5 yards backing
62” x 94” quilt batting
