A combination of lights, mediums, and darks from one color family creates a stunning quilt. Solids are added for an accent with the prints. The “background” of the quilt consists of light and light/medium fabrics cut into large triangles and sewn together, making the larger diamond shapes. 2 1/2” strips from the dark/mediums and darks are the “sashing” strips between the blocks, and the blocks are sewn together in diagonal rows.
Materials (If using cut yardage):
2/3 yard each of 2 different lights and light/mediums for triangles
1/3 yard each of 3 different lights and light/mediums for triangles
1/3 yard each of 4 different light solids from the color family for triangles
1/4 yard each of 5 different dark/mediums and darks for sashing squares
1/4 yard each of 4 different dark solids for sashing squares
1 yard for border and sashing squares
OR--Optional Materials (If using pre-cut fabric packs):
42 - 10" squares of a prints & solids in a light colorway for triangles
1/3 yard each of 2 different lights in the same colorway for triangles
24 - 2 1/2" x 42" strips of contrasting/dark prints & solids for sashing squares
1 yard for border and sashing squares
To complete the quilt:
5/8 yard binding
3 1/2 yards backing
66” x 78” quilt batting
