The 2025 Main Event, Humble Beginnings, features a lecture by the legendary Jean Wells, speaking about how Quilters Affair started 50 years ago - along with the inception of Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show.

A young mother with two very small children journeyed from the big city to the small town of Sisters, Oregon.  The mother, Jean Wells, had studied to become a Home Economics teacher.  After moving to Sisters, she wanted to offer quilting classes but there was nowhere for her students to buy supplies.  She decided she would open a shop to provide those supplies and those classes.  And, as they say, the rest is history.

Join us for an evening of reminiscing as Jean shares the first part of this 50-year journey with a lecture of how it all began. A time where a couple of lectures has turned into over 118 classes during the week of Quilters Affair; where 10 family quilts turned into hundreds from people all over the world; and where hundreds of volunteers help to make it happen.

You will meet the teachers of Quilters Affair 2025.  A strong lineup of some of the country’s finest from far and near.  The teachers will share some of their quilts, and some of the 2025 QA student participants will share what they have made this year.  We know watching this will fire up your creativity.

Stitchin’ Post employees will share their challenge quilts for 2025, a tradition that has taken place every year. These are the quilts traditionally hung by the Sisters Fire Department on the side of Stitchin’ Post.

We’ve all had dreams through the years. We hope you will join us to hear about Jean’s dream and how it has evolved.

We also encourage you to watch our Friday night’s lecture sponsored by Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show. This is where the story continues with an up close and personal interview with Jean and Valori.
