Designed by Max and Louise for Andover Fabrics, Valley Hues draws on 19th-century florals, stripes, and shirtings. Its autumn hydrangea palette blends rose, lavender, weathered blue, brown, and antique gold for a timeless, period-inspired look.

Civil War or Soldier’s Cot Quilts traditionally combined simple blocks with wide fabric strips, creating narrow quilts that could be rolled and carried. Jackie’s reproduction-style design is slightly larger, with finished size varying according to the strips between the nine-patch rows. Paired with Valley Hues fabrics, it makes a quilt to treasure for years.

If you wish to make this quilt, you will need to add 2 2/3 yard border or theme print for the vertical rows between the checkerboards/nine-patches.

You will also need the pattern, 5/8 yard binding, 5 1/2 yard backing, and 68” x 98” quilt batting.
