Civil War or Soldier’s Cot Quilts were made using simple quilt block patterns, combined with other larger pieces of fabric such as old curtains, old clothing, and feed sacks. The larger pieces of fabric were cut into long wide strips which were sewn between rows of pieced blocks. These long, narrow quilts could be rolled and carried on the soldiers backs. Jackie designed our quilt to be a bit larger than the traditional cot quilt, but its size can vary depending on how wide the strips between the nine-patch rows are. The Breathtaking Blues fabric collection is a tribute to timeless beauty, blending soft sky blue tones, deep navy, and delicate florals in a collection that feels calm, classic, and endlessly elegant. Paired with this reproduction-style quilt pattern, it makes a lovely quilt that will be treasured for years to come.

Kit includes the pattern and everything you need to make the quilt top, including binding.
